Digital Issues in today's world

As we prepare for our reading of Fahrenheit 451 and/or 1984, we will be discussing the issues of living in the increasingly digital and "connected" world of today's society. Whether we fully realize it or not, our increasingly reliance and use of computers and technology have also brought about new challenges and difficulties. Here is a resource page for the unit.

Throughout our readings there will be four (4) wiki comment postings due on this wiki page.

The fourth and final wiki comment is due Tuesday, Jan. 17 before class starts. You can find the assignment and page on which to leave the comments by clicking here. Follow the directions carefully.

The third wiki comment was due Thursday, Jan. 12 before class starts. You can find the assignment and page on which to leave the comments by clicking here. Follow the directions carefully.

The second wiki comment was due Tuesday, Jan. 10 before class starts. You can find the assignment and page on which to leave the comments by clicking here. Follow the directions carefully.

The first wiki comment was due Friday, Jan. 6 before class starts. You can find the assignment and page on which to leave the comments by clicking here. Follow the directions.

Preparing your essays using proper citation and the ICE method for body paragraphs

As always, we will be using the following the course Essential Questions to guide our discussions and inquiry.

  1. What does it take for someone to "come of age" and be ready to assume the responsibilities of adulthood?
  2. How do our surroundings, upbringing, and experiences help influence the kind of people we become?
  3. How does the literature we read help us better understand the complexities of our world and our place in it?
